Q: How does my athlete join?
A: Incoming freshmen are encouraged to participate in our summer aquatics program. This serves as their tryout and their time spent here will help the coaching staff determine the appropriate team for your athlete. Current students should contact a member of the coaching staff.
Q: How much time will my athlete spend on this activity?
A: Our aquatics teams operate throughout the entire school year. The busiest times of the year will be during your athlete’s season. CIF sports are categorized into any of the three following seasons: fall, winter, or spring. Each season represents about three months. Boys Water Polo is a fall sport, Girls Water Polo is a winter sport, and Swim & Dive is a spring sport. All of our water polo players are expected to join the swim team in the spring. An athlete’s time commitment will change based on whether their sport is in-season or not.
Q: What are the approximate costs for participating in aquatics?
A: We request a season contribution of $250 for Boys/Girls Water Polo and $150 for Swim/Dive. Team gear varies in price–Boys Water Polo suits are $40, Girls Water Polo suits are $80, and Swim/Dive suits are $40-$80. Members of the aquatics program are also encouraged to purchase team shirts to wear on game days–Water Polo game day shirts are $30 and Swim/Dive meet day shirts are $15. Athletes must provide their own personal practice equipment (goggles, towels, swim caps, etc.).
Q: Are parents expected to participate?
A: Parent participation is not required but it is appreciated. Throughout the school year parent help will be needed to operate our snack shack and help plan and execute our banquets.
